Roots

May 04 2009

I’m sitting on a bench in old town Monrovia, right on the main street, watching the final days of construction on our new library. The library is on the main street, and covers an entire block with a massive front lawn. It’s truly impressive to see.

Standing sentry over the new library are a dozen trees that are more than 100 years old. Everywhere you go in this town, there are these incredible old trees, towering over the parks and homes. It’s a constant reminder to me that Monrovia has deep roots.

I love that reminder. I like thinking that our roots are now going down into the soil here, and that our family’s story will be bound up in the history of this place.

  3. Van Nuys. Never forget. Never….

  4. I would have said Chatsworth.

  5. Chatsworth? Well, maybe for some new-school Porno Verite’. But for classics, Van Nuys is where it’s at.
