5.8 magnitude earthquake this morning, 11:42 am, centered between Chino Hills and Yorba Linda. It was Sophia’s first earthquake. The quake happened 8 miles below this spot:
She’s very advanced. She most likely accurately guessed the richter scale measurement within a tenth of a point and then reminded Gretchen to turn the gas off.
We have some friends from TN visiting out there right now. She called me not long after the phones were back up. They were really worried about earthquakes before they left. Of course now they are worried it was a fore-shock.
I know everyone’s concerned. We’re fine in Brea, a few miles from the center. And by “we’re fine in Brea”, I mean I loaded the family on a Jet Blue flight bound for Park City, UT at 7am this morning so we could have a little getaway family time. Here’s to hoping I’m not paying today’s mortgage on a half-million dollar shanty.
Yeah, Josiah’s first too daddy. He was a bit dazed and confused as Mike whisked him out of bed. It was kind of a bonding experience, standing on the sidewalk with all the neighbors.
