For those of you in Northern Cal, I recommend the Exploratorium in SF. It is a kid- and adult-friendly hands-on museum of science experiments. Recently I was inspired by their exhibits on SOUND, and wished I had the Addison Roadhouse there so we could ponder together. Here are the quick tempered clavier and tone memory.

(#)Off to the studio this week to record a Christmas album. It's approximately 158 degrees in Burbank so I'm in an appropriately wintery mood, of course. Any suggestions for how to invoke the spirit o' the (not yet in) season?

Oh my gosh, I totally went there in the late eighties/early nineties-ish. My family must have been on some vacation from Oregon. I brought home a holographic button that I wore on my denim jacket for like the next six years. Sigh, memories.
I went there as a fifth grader on a field trip, then became a fifth grade teacher who took her students there. It is right next to the Palace of Fine Arts, so also a beautiful place to picnic.
An intriguing “sound” exhibit (I was trying to be brief for an *aside*!) was a listening station in which you listen to five couples argue, then decide which couple was arguing correctly. It was all about TONE and the science of human relationships (The Gottman Institute). If I could find it online, I would post it.
I love the Exploratorium. I think I went on a field trip in 7th grade. I also loved the sound exhibits.
it is also free the first Wednesday of the month along with the othe museums and the Zoo and the Aquarium at the park.
