Agree that it was the voice of God but…the portion of the anatomy is off by a bit. To stand and pee, to be able to write KJV Scripture in the snow cursively is a joy.

I remember after my motorcycle accident I was in the hospital and had to pee lying down…for three months. I would have given anything to pee sitting down and when I finally pee’d standing up, I almost fell over. What any of this has to do with translating the Bible I don’t know but I can assure you that some of my best Bible reading occurs in the bathroom but never when I’m pee’ing.

I just listened to one of his full-length sermons (on missions and the love of money, since I was raised by missionaries and seem to be somewhat of a masochist). In case this didn’t come through on the “pissing against the wall” sermon, this guy is a total prick. So to speak.

I just wanted to know that I hadn’t stumbled upon a Unitarian blog (kidding) or something of that nature. I don’t have a problem with “fundies” or anyone who takes a more literal view of the bible than others might, but I do have a problem with bad bible teaching from an individual like this. Obviously for him to say a real man pees standing up and anyone else just isn’t a man is spurious at best. I take heart that I don’t hear a lot of amens or acknowledgments from the crowd.

I still get a few emails every month or so asking why I use the NET translation for The Bible Podcast instead of the KJV. One went so far as to say, “It’s a shame that you spent all this time and energy on a project that is from the devil, not from the lord.”

Hey PC, you were asking earlier what our beef was with fundies. This guy managed to tie up the moral bankruptcy of Europe, America's emasculating of the male nature, the error-ridden status of all modern translations, even his conviction that the word Jehovah (a non-existent Hebrew word) is the proper name for God, all in one tidy little verse about peeing against the wall. My problem with fundamentalism is this: it makes no allowance for the possibility that its biblical interpretation is actually cultural interpretation, and that they might be reading things based solely in cultural tradition back into the scriptures. By the way, this is exactly the same problem I have with The Right Reverend Dr. Jeremiah Wright. We're equal opportunity cynics around here.

I am so glad to know that he is going to go and pee standing up in Germany! This is a bit over the top for me, I do believe that the bible should stand as it is, but what about the argument that it is now available to hundreds of millions of people now because of translations? What about the children’s bible should it have the same words EXACTLY as the KJ bible? I do not think so it might scare the little children if mommy wants them to sit down so it is not all over the wall.
