I stopped reading your post when you said, “spoileriffic territory” because I am looking forward to seeing these when they come out on laser disc.

As far as a sleep over is concerned, Sharolyn or I would be the first victims of the shaving cream on the hand, feather to the face bit. Which of us would fall asleep first? That depends, if there an emphasis in John Adams on battles, graphic depictions of the violence man can do each other, then Sharolyn will be out in 15 minutes. If they focus on the relationships between each character, delving into the emotions surrounding all the events, I will be the one to have his hand dipped in warm water.

I was watching the HBO series John Adams tonight and there was a nod at George Washington’s false teeth. It made me laugh because I remembered that those teeth are on display in Baltimore at The National Museum of Dentistry. Not only that, the map that the American delegation in France used to identify the United States of America at the Treaty of Paris, the actual map from George III’s library, is on display at the Maps exhibitions running at The Walters Art Museum. Mike and I did see Michael Clayton, and it truly was ah inspiring.

So we also saw 1776 the musical in February at the Actor’s Co-Op in Hollywood, and was reminded of what an incredible time this was in our Nation’s history. John Adams is the lead in 1776 and truly was an incredible orator. I’d be interested in seeing the miniseries. Have you DVRed it Chad?

The reason I’d make a not-so-good critic, now that I think about it, is that I’m too much of a fanboy.

I’m still pimping for Michael Clayton because it pisses me off that the best thriller in 10 years wasn’t a big hit.

All of you need to ask yourself… why haven’t I taken Chad’s advice and seen this movie!?!?

I agree with what you are saying here. Although, I was shocked to find out (while engrossed in PBS’ ‘African American Lives’) that as early as the 1790s, Quakers were freeing their slaves out of spiritual conviction! I had no idea. The documentary I was watching was making the point of how long emancipation took - about 100 years (?) - as there were these “freed” slaves before the turn of 1800, and slavery still happening in sovereign Native American nations even 30 years after Abe declared them free.

Go Quakers.

Your post makes me want to watch. Are you sure your calling isn’t as a critic?
