Do you know what I love about Oprah’s Big Give? Everyone did a great job this week, so no one got kicked off.

In some ways, Sharolyn, you and I are very different people.
It’s refreshing to see niceness on TV. It’s like the Apprentice, but they give the money away in life-changing ways instead of keeping it. For example, families with large sums of outstanding medical bills get their mortgages paid off, and puppies chew new toys under rainbows.
If this helps:
-there was much humor in our household at my expense as a result of this perspective
-I realize this decision was probably made to keep the hot chick in the finale
In all seriousness, what is the purpose of watching TV? For me, it is to escape the harshness of the world and forget about my troubles for a while. Most TV does not provide that.
Thank you. Now I will let everyone get back to their thinkier thoughts.
I don’t know about you, but I watch TV on the off chance that I might see a midget boxing a liger.
Admitting this will probably get me kicked off the island, but I too am a fan of OBG. And Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. I don’t know what to tell you; generosity really works for me, even unabashedly corporate-sponsored generosity…especially unabashedly corporate-sponsored generosity. Because when Ford Motors takes that write-off for giving away a car, everybody wins!
Also, you can catch the new season of Battlestar Gallactica free on scifi.com. My interests are colorful and varied.
I make fun of Gretchen for watching Xtreme MakeO, right up to the point where the 36 foster kids coming running into the new house and hug the design team, the littlest one on crutches saying (with a lisp), “Thank you for making us a home, mister Ty. Now the doctors can make me all better, and we can be a real family!”
Then, I’m blubbering right along with her. Stupid compassion.
Mike, let me apologize for dumbing down your blog.
This had me crying with laughter.
