Well, the small group added it this last Saturday, and they ate it up. It’s a really, really fun song to sing, lots of cool duet, group 1 v group 2 moments, strong unisons, hit and hold suspended moments, all that fun stuff.

They killed it. I love this group!

It’s one of my favorite tricks - everything is hanging on a IV chord, and one line moves from the 3, to the #4, to the 5. I probably use it more than any sane person should.

Also, props to Erica. I think we did this song in the key of Stupid Flat, a key that no sane vocalists should ever have to sing in, and she just drills it.

Mike is actually a bit off… I hate to say it but this is at least 5 years old, if not 6. We did it before we moved to the Agoura Condo, this I know for sure, and that was 5 years ago in May.

Somewhere in the CD-R archives, I bet I have the session files for this song… now I’ll have to check. I actually composed a full deconstruction of all the things I’d change about this song 5+ years later, but I decided not to post it…

Except the chop-chop stuff at the top was me, playing one chord at a time, then slicing it up and placing it on the beat in Logic. Also, the “chucka chucka” part, same thing.

I guess I missed this when you two were working it up — it’s pop-errific! Very Avalonian.

Random: A couple weeks ago, Bryan got this song in our heads: “This is me, getting over your issues…” which I had completely forgotten. And then, apparently, I hadn’t actually forgotten it, because it tormented my waking and sleeping for a fortnight.

You guys should work together more often.
