I’ve gotten several emails over the past week asking what an appropriate gift might be for a father on the occasion of his son’s birth (or possibly for the father’s birthday, which is coming up …). The answer? A Thingamagoop from Bleep Labs! I can’t believe you didn’t already know that a monophonic analog synth-filter robot was the traditional First Son gift.

Check out the video. I’ve never gone so quickly from not knowing something existed, to neeeeeeeeeding it now now now now!

Here’s the order form. Check with Corey on the colors. He’s good with that kind of thing.

  1. Man, I can’t wait till I am a father!

  2. Oh, dear. Don’t all go having babies just so you can get a Thingamagoop.

  3. Oh. My. Gosh. Please ignore the crazy person and his little thingamagoop.

  4. Mike, you mean your Josiah wasn’t born holding a Thingamagoop?

  5. No, Sharolyn. Awesome is a learned skill.

  6. Ok, I love those. It would take exactly half a nanosecond for me to tire of their sound and want to chuck them as far as my girlie-throw would let me, but nonetheless, I love them. Glad they are $100 each…this prevents me from buying two for the two small people I live with who have zero sound editing skills.

Corey, have you settled on colors yet? I do think blues are appropriate.

Gretchen, just make M keep it at work!! It’s either that or you have to buy a 10,000 square foot house and make a rule that thingamagoop stays in the 5,000 square feet furthest from you at all times.

  7. Neat! There has to be some kind of “Make A Joyful Noise” angle that you can use to include it in a worship set.

  8. Blues are definitely appropriate, singing how the sound that emanates from within it is soothing, soothing, soothing.

  9. WTF mike lee?!
