I think I need to make peace with the fact that my work process is non-linear. It makes it very difficult to determine progress, but the final product always seems to arrive in time.

For those of you in Northern Cal, I recommend the Exploratorium in SF. It is a kid- and adult-friendly hands-on museum of science experiments. Recently I was inspired by their exhibits on SOUND, and wished I had the Addison Roadhouse there so we could ponder together. Here are the quick tempered clavier and tone memory.

Whoa. Did you see that? Dude was using a REAL PENCIL! When’s the last time you’ve seen one of those? Amazing. It’s like a visit to the Smithsonian.
That was cool. Kind of like the 9 times tables on the fingers trick.
I don’t get it. Where do you punch the numbers in?
That’s cool and all, but once you get to higher digits… multiply 99 by 99. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather not draw 36 lines and try to count all the intersections. The other way’s faster, but not as, well, novel.
Come on, Stick, don’t you remember slide rules? Ok, me neither. But I remember the tests when we WEREN’T allowed to use our TI-89 graphing calculators, because it was “good for” us.
Whatever.
Well, I’m somewhere between slide rules and the fancy-dancy graphing calculator. Though, one of my first Macs had a sweet 3D looking graphing program. Seems like I made it through Calculus I with your basic calculator. But those days are fuzzy now, as is my command of Calculus, or 4th grade math, for that matter.
