   The United States, Liberia and Burma are the only countries in the world who have refused to adopt the metric system.

   Actually, I believe the U.S. technically adopted the metric system in 1866 but we’ve failed to broadly embrace it’s use with respect to our “everyday” systems of measurement.

   those are what are commonly known as the “4 corners of the earth”, athough they had to eyeball it since the earth is spherical.

   These are the only countries in the world who have not gone metric.

    Brings to mind something my mom would say…”So if everybody jumped off a cliff, would you?”. We must heavily weigh comformity! I personally would like to see the US move to the imperial system…then we can be using furlongs and leagues and fathoms as well!

    There’s a section of AZ highway where all the signs were changed to metric when we were supposedly going to switch over. Thing is, the AZ government was apparently too lazy to switch them back, so between Sunrise and Nowhere, AZ, you can measure the distance to the next exit, or calculate the speed limit in the same was as the rest of the world. It’s like being in Europe…except for the barren dry wasteland, scorching heat and just plain ugly landscape. But other than that….totally the same.

    And yes, Sunrise and Nowhere are real towns.
