Ash has resigned his position as worship leader/tech director at Ventura Missionary Church, effective June 1. It’s exciting and scary and sad and weird. (And complicated.) Your prayers and church jokes are appreciated in advance.

(#)Off to the studio this week to record a Christmas album. It's approximately 158 degrees in Burbank so I'm in an appropriately wintery mood, of course. Any suggestions for how to invoke the spirit o' the (not yet in) season?

Wow! this is an aside? Mind if I bump it over to the main? This is pretty big news …
Sounds like this years’ hot trend is: “Quit Your Church Job”
Ash - does this mean you’ll have time to come to Burbank, and join Chad and Mike and I for some Big Lebowski-Style boozin’?
It also means my sub list at CCC just become stacked.
Anybody want dibs on doing Christmas?
Zack, is China the darling of the news media right now?
China? Hell if I know. The only thing I know about recent Asian news, is the addition of a baby drop-box for unwanted kids that’s been installed at a Catholic hospital in Japan. I’m not kidding…

Our beloved music pastor is moving to Nashville after 15 years with us. Anyone wanna move to Pleasanton?
His last Sunday is June 3. Which leads me to notice that it is very clever of Bryan to leave on a Friday.
Sharolyn,
I know more pastors who are dissatisfied and either leaving the ministry or changing roles in the church or moving to another church then pastors who are loving it right where they are. It’s systemic. I am one of them. The structure is broken. Thank God for the Cornerstone, or we’d all be totally screwed.
G and I were just talking about this the other day. I feel very blessed to be one of the few who are content, and have no great designs on making my great escape.
Ours is a Kleenex-fest. Everyone is sad they’re leaving (even them). So no one is dissatisfied here.
I don’t want to be nosy, but Bryan and Aly, would you like to elaborate further? What does the future hold?
Well, see, there are these members of the royal family of Nigeria who need help getting millions of dollars out of the country…
Wow! Ash and Aly! Prayers are with you guys in this trasition time.
Sharolyn, where is your music pastor moving too? Is he moving to another church to do music or is getting in the biz?
From my point of view it all seems like good news. I am comforted by Mike’s comment. I look forward to experiencing the gifts of Ash and Chad (maybe Aly and Erica will come along when you guys sub for Mike at CCC?)
I don’t know if Mike saw this coming last October, but I do know he significantly increased his budget line then for guest players and leaders in this year’s worship budget.

He is going to Christ Presbyterian Church, and recording choral projects (he has been flying back and forth for a few years). And to buy a bigger house, I’m sure!

Well, you’re always telling me to plan ahead …
Was he also the Webmaster?? The site is so down!
You guys seem to be going through a lot of changes. Blessings on you.
So happy for you Ash, and biting my nails to hear What Is To Come. Love to you both.
Sharolyn,
I don’t mind sharing the full story eventually but I’m still processing what is happening. Also, I want to gain some measure of objectivity before making any public statements in the web-o-sphere.
Regarding what comes next: There will not be any straight jackets in my near future but there will be conventional clothing of some sort.
Ventura Missionary Eats Babies!
Wait. Wrong thread. Sorry.
I saw this in the archives. Ash, what are you up to these days? And who is that in your avatar?
