Hey... why isn't "Cirque-De-Hey-Soos-A-Palloza" a tagline?

Three from the archives strikes again.

While I'm grateful it is not being used in reference to ABF, "Cirque-De-Hey-Soos-A-Pallooza" could very well be the best word I've ever heard. Kudos Chad!

Sometimes B and I quote Spinal Tap lines in passing while in the presence of others and we always laugh extra hard when no one around us gets the joke...and then we wonder how that(anyone being unfamiliar with ST) is even possible.

Chad, yer a swell writer.

Thanks to this post, I dragged out my This Is Spinal Tap special edition DVD. The laughs are just as fresh today as when I first saw it in college. Pure brilliance. "Pastel black" is my new favorite color.

"God of Glory : Commandos in Drag"

Ah. Just followed the link. I'm an idiot.

(I still made myself laugh, though. Commandos in drag...)

Excellent story, Chad. I give it two belly-laughs up.

To clarify: did you mean the Tim Curry of Rocky Horror (meaning, were the commandos in full drag) or the Tim Curry playing the Lord of Darkness in Legend (red, shiny, hooves, hot pants and really big horns)?

Oh yeah! I forgot about the fall of Lucifer. Ok, so it's like Rent meets Paradise Lost meets YWAM.

Having attended both of the events described so well in this blog, I can attest that what transpired Good Friday was by far the more thoughtful, moving and provocative of the two presentations (and it involved about 1/10,000 of the cost to mount). The tearing of the curtain was in no way a Spinal Tap moment, unlike the vertically-stranded demon in what Ed Sullivan might have called the "really-big-shew." What made Hot Stuff's predicament even more interesting was that there flames jetting up from below, and we thought that he might get his tochus fried if they couldn't control his descent. Chad mentioned that the Cirque-De-Hey-Soos-A-Pallooza was sort of a mix of "West Side Story" and "This Present Darkness." Actually, its pretensions were far grander, more like "Rent" meets "Paradise Lost." They were literally telling the story of the Fall of Lucifer in one scene, followed by a jazzy night club number in the next. Go figure.

For those of you who can't wait to see this show, don't hold your collective breaths. I'll take a modest, meditative Good Friday service any time.

Dude, when does Cirque-De-Hey-Soos-A-Pallooza open in Reno? We're not that far from there, you know.

Sounds very cool.

Your story was great, I'm glad your Good Friday service worked out in the end. It sounds really cool.

But I can't get this line out of my mind...

"...in a tight formation, like kinda-gay Navy Seals..."

A great ending to a great Easter weekend!
