You know those mac vs. pc commercials? Apple UK reshot them. It’s kind of creepy to see exactly the same script, redone with different actors.

Man… I’ve been meaning to post this link for like a week. Yeah… it’s really bizarro world time.
Is it wrong of me to like these more than I do the US versions? Not saying that I do like them more. It’s just that…it’s not like I’m being un-patriotic, right?
Our version of “The Office” is pretty good.
Nevermind.
I love you, man.

I prefer ours. I love Ricky Gervais, but I think Steve Carell’s character is more compelling. He’s more human, and so you’re torn between wanting to see him succeed, and hoping he fails. With Gervais’ character, he was a train-wreck from end to end, and there was no compelling redeeming humanity to the character.
I realize the party line is that everything British is hilarious and everything US is crap, but I’m willing to go heretic on this one. The US version of The Office is a better show.

How’s Saturday for your burning at the stake? Dude, I realize I don’t have TV and all, so maybe I’m not speaking with very much authority…but the UK version of The Office was pure gold! How can you say that Gervais’s David Brent had no compelling redeeming humanity?? Brent is the mid-40s version of some of my closest guy friends in college (some of whom hang out here): Insecure, egocentric, socially awkward and dying to be liked and accepted. In other words, totally lovable. And not just because of the accent.
Heretic.
I like the US because there are more seasons (and it’s still going). I can’t get enough of the show, so whomever is willing to feed my need becomes the hero here.
David Brent is so mean, he does stupid things.
Michael Scott is so stupid, he does mean things.
Both are very very funny.
That’s boiling the difference down pretty far… probably scorching the pan.
Gareth to Dwight is pretty much a crapshoot for different reasons. But I like most of the American characters better.
Now back to the topic at hand, I just launched the largest website I have built. The PCs in the office handled the domain switch with no problems, however the company owner (of course) had a mac, and we spent two days tracking down email issues on that single computer. TWO DAYS that the mac was down when all the PCs in the office were working. Bet you don’t see that on a commercial!
Bobby
I’m guessing human error. Probably the code monkey who built the site.
Richt-on, Zack. I can tell that he’s an “unbeliever” in things that are clearly holy. I’m assuming God was punishing him. Apparently, the punishment had no effect. You and I will continue to pray for him…
by the way, I’m sitting at JFK right now waiting to fly back to SoCal. I’ve been doing clinics all week here in NY. Walked down to Ground Zero and thought of you being there. I was speechless (for fear that I’d open my mouth to speak and the lump in my throat would run interference).
Jihad! Burn the heretic! I bet he’s using IE too! Lifetime Ban! Loud Noises!
I blame human error also (unofficially, since the aforementioned human is also the client). Even Macs are not human-proof… I think they sneak up on you because they are so easy to use but when something finally does break… it’s really broken!
Whereas my PC breaks down all the time in small, easily fixable ways. Wait, this is a good thing?
Shun the unbeliever!!!! Shuuuuuuun….
Chadlets, hie thee over to the Candy Mountain thread. Many thanks to whoever resurrected it.
