The photos generally suck, but it’s a start. My statement may generally suck too, but I’m sure that I’ll revise it for future bodies of work…or whenever I get smart.

If anyone is in Auburn, CA tomorrow night, do drop by the show. I’m surely as dim as I seem in my statement but the paintings at least are much better in person.

Upon reviewing my artist statement today (the show opens the day after tomorrow) I’m making some changes. I think I crossed the line from conversational/accessible into hokey/does-this-chick-have-the-ability-to-think-or-speak-deeply ever? in a few spots. Oops.

Todd, messing around is the name of the game here at Addison Rd. You’re just an unknown as of yet… bring it on.

We’ll hopefully have June’s site up by the art walk thing next week so everyone can get a look (though via not so great photos on a web page) at what she’s doing. It’s cool stuff.

Welcome, my dear. So glad to see you posting.

I’ve read a handful of artist statements, mostly on your recommendation. This is the least pretentious, most human of the bunch. I’m not an artist, I don’t speak the lingo, but I understood it, and more than that, I makes me want to see how you actually incorporate these things into your work.

If the artist statement is meant to set the table and whet the appetite, then I think this accomplishes that with personality, wit, and an inviting tone.

It is just great. Ms. Goodwin’s suggestions are right on. I’ve never thought about an artist’s statement, and yet I was nodding my head a lot. And you followed her advice.

Welcome June!

When I was up at the Brian and June’s house last summer as we (and by we, I mean Brian) were mixing the Dailies album, I actually stayed in June’s studio room, as the guest room section of the audio studio was not yet complete.

So, I stayed in the studio, and would stare at all the art, finished and unfinished on the wall and leaning on one another in the corners. My thought was… “Man… it totally smells like acrilic in here!”

Just kidding.

Actually, my thought was, “How do I get my hands on some of this? I wonder if they’ll notice if I just pack a few into my suitcase…”
