These are just a few of the reasons to watch the Superbowl this Sunday. Oh yeah, and football - there’s a football game on, too.
I’m gonna go out on a limb, and assume that, like me, 99.9% of Addison Roadies don’t exactly follow the NFL Season. That being the case, why do you watch? Bonus points for those who link to memorable TV ads from previous games in the comments.

Oh man… click that top link with extreme caution, and not for the reason you think.

This is still my all-time favorite. The grizzled, Marlboro Man-ish guy with the lint brush gets me every time.

Aly, I never saw that ad. I kept it together until one of the catherders sneezed as he rode by.
That’s good stuff.

OK, now there’s a pool of vomit in our Flickr stream. First a sheep getting its throat slit, now vomit.
I’m not complaining, just making note. It’s actually kind of…rad, in a sick sort of way.

[Thinking to self: "Do I post a link to the commercial I sound designed and "Errrr-ed" on that won a Cleo and started the trend of animals in SuperBowl commercials? Do I come off like a self-promoting, prideful, annoying little boy? Mommy! Look what I did!]
Ok, sure… I’ll play.
Behold, look what I have made.

I’ve always loved the frogs. Sophia can do the “er” like a champ.

How’d you get the frogs to talk?

Well, once I open up Stickhouse EIT (Er Institute of Technology) I’ll consider giving her a scholarship to hone her craft. Of course, she’ll have to nail the audition.

In November 2005, my wife and I moved from Indiana from Southern California. Yeah, that’s right … and when people back here find that out (especially during this time of the year when there are such frigid temperature), we get the same kind of stare that you, no doubt, have on your face right now. I won’t bore you with the details of why we made this move.
The point is, we moved back here; and the “Colts-fever” didn’t ever strike me until I decided to watch the play-off game of the Colts. Leading up to that time, I had heard of Coach Tony Dungy’s profession of Christian faith, as well as several of the players on the team. So that made it even more interesting to me. After the play-off game, I was hooked into a tentative commitment to follow through by watching THE BIG GAME. The game was good enough, I guess.
But the best part of the whole thing for me was when the game was over, the coaches of both teams met in the middle of the field … like they always do. But this time, there were some notable differences. BOTH coaches were African-American … both coaches embraced one another with such obvious respect … and both coaches live out a daily walk with Jesus — fleshed out, not only in the way they run their teams, but also in commitments to such causes of social justice as BIG BROTHERS AND SISTERS.
This was the first time that the team of an African-American coach had coached the winning team of a Superbowl game. And it happened, of all times, in Black History month! Seeing those two African-American men meet on that field literally brought tears to my eyes.
These last two games were the only games that I have watched this season. But this particular moment was worth wading through the game and waiting for “something important” to happen! And it did!
