Sophia has figured out how to work light switches. The house is now like a perpetual rave, being run by a very short, slightly epileptic DJ.

(#)Off to the studio this week to record a Christmas album. It's approximately 158 degrees in Burbank so I'm in an appropriately wintery mood, of course. Any suggestions for how to invoke the spirit o' the (not yet in) season?

Don’t worry, the light switch fascination stage only lasts two-three years.
Yes, the light switch stage fasination only lasts two or three years. After that the switch only works in one direction (on) They lose the ability to turn it off.
Yes, Sophia’s fascination was really great at 6 this morning, as she turned it on for mom and dad and then promptly walked down the hall. Ah, sharing a room at the in-laws…
I remember in boarding school (pre-teens), using the light switch was how we created a mood whilst working on our dance routine to “Holiday.” The poor girl who was even clumsier than me remained on light switch patrol for the duration of her stay at Rethy Academy.
Cerise
We are in this stage as well! Yesterday we went with extended family to the Oakland Zoo. A few other people had the same idea. The ladies’ bathroom was PACKED, and we had three girls with us in attempting their potty training practicum. My niece turned off the lights. There was no window. Pitch black. A few women screamed, probably in the middle of their business. When the lights came on, my mom was laughing with tears rolling down her cheeks!
Go Sophia.
I think Sharolyn wins. Cerise is a terribly close second.
Gretchen, I feel your pain. We just got back home last night and oh, what Christmas joy indeed to put the boys in their own room for the night…and walk away. Someone should write a joyous Christmas carol about that!
I’m just laughing at the simile - “like a perpetual rave….” It captures the erratic, rambunctious, experience perfectly.
