So I’ve liked the flikr scroll, and have loved the one’s of my parent’s new place in WA, but 10 shots of the frosted picnic table just seems a little over the top.
Yep. The folks are selling our childhood home after 36 years in the Bay Area (CA) and are permanently moving in March to their lovely 10 acres and beautiful home with the many picnic tables. They are in Custer, just outside of Lynden, about 10 miles south of the Canadian border. So pretty.
Heh…that’s so funny to me…cuz 2 years ago my parents left WA (after about 40 years) and bought 20 beautiful acres in Montana! Everyone in WA talks about all the Californians moving there…and my parents have found that in Montana, everyone talks about the invading Washintonians!
That is very pretty country indeed. I hope they don’t mind rain. It’s Narniaesque up there (when it’s not raining.)
Gretchen, how do you feel about this big change? I remember once my mom tossed out the idea of them selling our childhood home and I got choked up. Did you say goodbye to your old bedroom, or anything meaningful like that?
Sharolyn, it has been a process. They’ve been “moving” for the last 2 years, so at least we’ve had time to get used to the idea. We had our last Christmas in it last year, and that was bitter sweet. I think the hardest reality will be seeing rooms empty as we start to pack things up in March. It’s surreal thinking someone else will live there. I will miss it. But it is just a building. The WA house will be home too, and the property is a grandkid’s paradise. I like the idea of Sophia having a place to explore and grow her imagination. I mean, let’s face the fact, she won’t have that exploration chance in any yard we can hopefully some day give her here in LA.

watching Sophia see the snow fall for the first time was just magical. I am loving getting to “discover” things again for the “first time” with her :)

Hey, that is weird. Could it be because other people are adding it to their flickr accounts, tagged addisonrd?

No, I have no clue what’s going on, and no, I am not about to fix it until next week.
