I’m Back …

… and I brought some candy! So what’s new?

You can now quote somebody’s previous comment in your comment. Check it out. It’s very cool.

This might be the most requested feature ever. Now, everyone can edit their own comment up to 10 minutes after it is posted. For 10 minutes, a little “edit” tag will appear next to your comment. After that, it disappears. No more asking me to fix things for you!

Trimmed a lot of the sidebar down. Most of it was totally useless, so I deleted it.

Instead of the flickr sidebar pictures just showing the most recent pictures tagged “prayer”, they now show the most recent pictures tagged “addisonrd”. This means that you can insert any picture you want into the sidebar simply by uploading it to a free account at flickr.com, and including the tag “addisonrd” with the photo. It’s the pictoral version of “asides”.

There are lots of other changes, but those are the big ones. If anything is broken, please let me know in the comments section. It’s good to be back. I ended my internet fast a few days early, because Gretchen is gone for the week, and being home alone in a dark house with no blog to retreat to just seemed unnecessarily cruel.

I don’t think I’m going to read much of what I missed – I’ll catch it as it pops up in the “3 from the Archives”.

Track down the fatted calf and break out the bubbly: Michael is back!!

Things ’round these parts just haven’t been the same without you…welcome home!…er, I mean, back!

I plan to make good use of the pictoral thingy. And, the new light and airy look of the blog is faaabulous dahling!

    I can’t believe I missed that.

Put them back or fear reprisals. I’ve defended your right to manage the blog as you see fit, but this is too much.

Maybe I have a devious mind, but isn’t automatically including all photos tagged addisonrd a bit risky?

I mean I could tag all sorts of dodgy photos with addisonrd if I wanted to.

How ’bout starting up a moderated flickr pool and using the feed from that instead?

I forgot to say I do really like the new theme! And welcome back Michael. I do love this blog.

Francis, you’re much more devious than I am. I never even thought of the evil implications of the tagged photo rule. I guess I’d rather leave it as is, simple and fast, and see if it becomes a problem.

On the post editing issue, i’m not sure what’s going on. It’s based on IP address, so if you’re reconnecting to a new dialup connection, or if you’re behind a fancypants firewall, it may not work as intended.

Also, this is a new one for post authors. From now on, once you click on a category for your post, it automatically deselects the “miscellany” category.

Also, the site statistics are included in the admin panel now. Those of you with access to the back part of the site can see all kinds of good info on how the site gets used, including which posts are the most popular, and which ones suck.

Although, I can probably tell you which ones suck, if you don’t want the hassle of looking.

The site stats will take a few days to populate. Right now, everything reads “Zero”.

Welcome back, my sweet. I haven’t been around much either, truth be told, though it hurt me more than it hurt anyone else.

Francis, I like the way you think. I’m totally going to do the dodgy photos thing. Thanks for thinking that one up – breasts (not mine) all around!!
