Somebody called in a bomb threat to APU this morning. All classes are cancelled, no idea how real or hype it is, but either way … kind of scary. Details here. I’m not on campus, but if somebody is, can you update us?

I am somewhat fascinated by the conflict of interest for Southern Baptists of voting Republican and keeping women out of leadership roles. Since I'm not as thinky as others on this blog, I give you an article.

You’re sure it wasn’t you droppin’ some bombs in the commode, Professor Farty Pants?
I hope it’s nothing serious….back in the day, I used to work for Pleasant Hawiian Holidays - we’d get a bomb threat about every 3 months - it was always from someone who worked there who wanted a day off. Insane, I know. But it was notoriously difficult to get unscheduled time off at that sh*thole. They used to fire people for dental emergencies. (Including your’s truly.)
A bomb threat at APU is roughly the equivalent of a bomb threat at Chucky Cheese. That’s just crazy. Thank God everyone’s okay.
Talk about Phreaky Phriday.
I wasn’t on campus today… I called my wife, Karen, and told her about it, haven’t heard about it on the phone with the music office, and she said, about 1/10th of second later, “They must not have known you don’t usually go in on Fridays.”
Real sweet.
Oh, man. I don’t know even know her, and I’m in love with your wife.
I’ve suspected for some time.
I was in Munson when they evacuated everybody. International Chapel was just underway and Azusa PD came and pulled the fire alarm and played it off as a fire drill until everyone got outside and had checked in with APU Staff. It was kinda ironic, the students were pretty much just happy that classes were cancelled, but the people in different departments, i.e. Student Life, Chapel Programs, IMT, were all pretty confused and disorganized. I dunno I just thought that it was exactlty opposite of how I thought the student body would react.
Guess I’ll add in my ‘quick’ remarks… talk about the cliche unity that brings us musicians together. Aka… the impromptu music student HQ that formed on cougar walk as we all had plans to lock ourselves in the practice rooms/orchestration/theory classes, usually following chapel, but couldn’t get near the music building, or more importantly, all our instruments held prey in the locker rooms. A funny sight indeed.
So, soon after they attempted to incinerated any remnant of what could’ve been the unidentified and unrecounted object(I hear it was gaffer tape left over from the Larry Carlton concert) at 12:30 p.m. we naturally ran… to the instrumental locker room.
Funny, because the day that a bomb threat cancels all my classes, as one might expect being the innate nature of doing music(I guess?) I end up being ‘more’ busy attending to a 3 and-a-half hour chamber music rehearsal… just because we had the time to catch up. Plus, empty classrooms available for use. When does THAT happen???
Alex, you seem to have benefited nicely from this little bomb threat. Anything you want to confess to the group?
