Scooped! Somebody captured 3 new apple vs. windows ads on a video camera phone from the production studio, and posted them online. Check them out: Awesome out of the box, Make amazing stuff, and Macs do windows too. (ht: apple insider)

(#)Off to the studio this week to record a Christmas album. It's approximately 158 degrees in Burbank so I'm in an appropriately wintery mood, of course. Any suggestions for how to invoke the spirit o' the (not yet in) season?

(#)"First, we will set up a single goal to represent educational success, which will take four years to achieve no matter what is being taught. We will attach an economic reward to it that seldom has anything to do with what has been learned. We will urge large numbers of people who do not possess adequate ability to try to achieve the goal, wait until they have spent a lot of time and money, and then deny it to them. We will stigmatize everyone who doesn't meet the goal. We will call the goal a 'BA.'" [link]

The guy who plays PC is John Hodgman, one of the funniest people ever. The Daily Show had him on to pimp his book The Areas of My Expertise and he was so funny they hired him as their “expert.” He’s a regular on TDS now, just for talking authoritatively about “hobo matters.”
I’ve seen him a few times - he’s awesome. I think the casting on this series of ads has been just brilliant. The mac guy is exactly right - not trying to be hip, just living in that geek-cool vibe where most mac people live.
BTW, the Apple site was only scooped by a few hours. The ads are now up there: link.
The Mac Guy is named Justin Long, and he’s having a hell of a year. He has a very funny bit part in “The Break up,” and is the lead in the upcoming movie “Accepted,” which, while I am sure will be a good move for his career, looks like a festering pile of dog waste.
The mac guy had a smaller ongoing part in NBC’s Ed as well as a substantial part in the movie DodgeBall. The dvd featurette on getting hit with a dodgeball is without a doubt the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in my whole life. ever. ever. ever.
