Even I get moderated sometimes. This blog gets about 200 spam comments a day, and the software we use to block them has an almost 100% catch rate for keeping them out of the actual blog. Unfortunately, it sometimes also catches actual real live posts. I do know that it helps to have a registered account, to be logged in when you comment, and also, to avoid the words <em>Viagra, Mortgage,</em> and <em>Hippie.</em> I swear, it’s totally automated. I was wondering if, due to the fact that they wanted to change the world (and did) but eventually kind of fell into cynicism and worldliness, that some of that dissapointment was transferred onto us as a generation. They wanted to upset the enitre world order in a generation's time, which just won't ever happen without an apocalyptic event. Real change takes a lot of time. I wonder if they had raised us with a more conservative perspective (not in the politically charged sense, but in a practical sense), making changes as they went, had we been taught about real change in the real world, if we would be different. I have engaged in grand stereotypes in this post... forgive me. Just thinking out loud. Sometimes I wonder if the fatalism one finds, especially in Gen X, is just laziness and apathy in the face of global tragedy, senseless war and all the rest. That's exactly what it is for me, mostly.
