Real Live Preacher has written an essay worth reading:
There’s something about the way you use the bible, something about the way you use it as a tool, as a weapon, as a fulcrum, as a means, as an end, as a trump card.
There’s something about the way you see the bible as a thing to be used at all.

OMG, RLP rulz. If you’ve never read The Preacher’s Story, do yourself a favor. He’s, like, my dream pastor…and he’s BAPTIST.
This essay brought me to my knees. Mentally, I mean, ’cause I’m at work. This might sound, well, like Morph’s typical hyperbole, but do you ever read something that makes you grateful, humbled to even exist in this world and be able to read such thoughts?
Thank you SO MUCH, Michael, for bringing this to my attention, and thank all of you authors at Addison Rd. for continuing to inspire me.

I just read “The Preacher’s Story”. Yep, the man kicks serious ass. As soon as I saw Beuchner on his good-reading list I knew.

That was awesome… thanks Mike and iMonk.
Thanks for the link to the “The Preacher’s Story.” What a beautiful, powerful, honest story. It made me weep - the tears dripping off your chin and the sobbing and gasping for air kind of weeping. Unusual, good, cleansing.
