the “optimist” and “pessimist” tags aren’t asking about your outlook on the world, they’re asking you what sort of death estimate you want, and optimistic one, or a pessimistic one.

I think the key is “Optimist.” Even if you’re a smoker, selecting “Optimist” adds like 15 years. Sounds like funny science to me.
