These images were installed on the wall that is under construction between Israel and Palestine along the West Bank. They are by the renowned guerrilla artist Banksy. Those of you who are interested in art as a transforming and redemptive act, maybe take note.
This photo hit me the strongest. It shows the proximity between the installation and the guard towers.

Eric Drooker, a favorite artist of mine, did something similar. I saw his slideshow when he came to Seattle - I can’t bloody find the actual paintings he did on the wall, dangit, but here’s the article. It’s heartbreaking what’s happening (even though I understand all of it about as well as I understand the Crusades - which is not much at all). My faith in humanity takes a kick when I see us building even more walls instead of tearing them down. But guerrilla artists give me a flicker of hope.

Wow.
.
For anyone interested, Sojourners Magazine is an excellent resource for faith and social justice. This month’s issue explores the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with profiles of peacemakers on both sides. They also have an amazing resource called Spirit of Fire, which examines art and justice.
