Don't forget about attitude - after all - you're the SOUND MAN. (heroic music) Everything about the service depends on you, so act like it! Don't let inane details like EQ and levels take precedence over the really important thing - YOU! Sure the audience thinks they are there to see the service, but you know better! Make sure everyone knows who is in charge (you) and why (because they are just the "talent"). And if they still don't get the message, tweak their mix during the service to remind them.

For the record - the soundperson (that's for you Aly) at my church is the opposite of these things too. Seems like the really good soundmen have great attitudes and people skills, and the guys that act like a-holes are just trying to cover for the fact that they're not that great. Surely there are exceptions, but I'd rather have a nice guy that is less good than a jerk that will blame everything on you.

Classic. That right there makes me want to drop everything and become a worship leader.

I love you.

And when I say I love you, I mean in the non-masculine, ministry-ending sort of way.
