My Dad wasn't offered cattle for me, though he spread it around the village (to my mortification - gladly there were no takers) that he'd part with me for forty cows and 100 cases of Coke. The drinking kind. Dreadful man.</description>

A missionary gentleman I know made this mistake, and was visited by the young suitor a year after they first talked, along with 100 head of cattle. It took another five years for him to regain the trust of the rest of the village after he reneged. I'd hate to see that on a international scale.</description>
