[...] We should have known the kind of year it would be when we rang it in by going to bed at 9:30. Ash was sick with the flu and had to work on New Year’s Day (a Sunday), so the partying was left to the youngsters. We never felt so uncool. (And whether we admit it or not, cool still has some currency around here, so it was kind of depressing.) [...]

I, too, mourn the death of my own personal coolness. For me, this is easier, since I didn’t have much coolness to lose. [...]

My darling dear.

Firstly, and I feel comfortable speaking for all who know you: no one admitted into your presence could ever come away thinking you were anything but the epitome of cool.

Secondly, I will NEVER give up my mild scorn of those who clap on 1 and 3, no matter how arrogant (I won't say it's ignorant. I refuse.) I seem. Ah, how unworthy these thoughts. I'm with you - desperately hoping that spending more time on this planet will calm me down somewhat.

Thirdly, being cool is still a big deal with me and I will address my new definition of it in my own blog, since (as you well know) this worthy tangent of mine could go on for days. But in a nutshell, coolness means a totally different thing for me than it used to, it's killer, wonderful, and I'm spending every conscious moment (fewer of them than you'd think) trying to attain it.

Cerise
