Aww..

It's funny to me because at no time has either Mike or myself participated in anything resembling an emerging church. I know Aly and Ash participate in a house church, which is closer.

I know I have had to just sort of take a break from reading any church-related literature. I know, for example, that the unread copy of The Jesus Creed by Scot Mcknight would most likely edify and inspire my heart. The bummer is I know that my heart is just not ready for that right now.

I'm not ready to bail on our little church just yet. There's too much that's worth preserving. There's also a lot of fat that, in my opinion, needs to be simply cut off. Any visioning or dreaming on my part right now about where the church might go, or who I might be inside of where it might go is just so... hollow to me right now. I'm in pure survival mode, just trying to not open my mouth too much. There's just too much frustration at the end of this almost 18 month journey we're on from our old pastor through the disasterous interim to the homegrown team to the new senior that we know is out there, but we haven't been told who He is.

He better have vision for days, because I'm just plum out.

Chad, I was thinking the same thing today (about it being an Emerging Church blog). So I will throw in that I read the Scot McKnight paper, which blew my mind. So then I read "A New Kind of Christian" by Brian McLaren, which really woke me up spiritually. "A Generous Orthodoxy" is on my shelf, waiting to be read.

I realize none of these are profound thoughts. I just wanted you all to know that you are influencing me.

Hey, remember when this was an emerging church blog?!!?

Good times.

Honestly, I'm kind of upset that there's been no activity since 6:29 this morning (Tenessee time) and felt like posting.

LOL. Nice twist. BTW, concerning the non-Lucas trilogy: I think the narrative is fairly straight forward, despite the parenthetical disclaimers. WDYT?

I'll let you know once I've finished reading it! I find it's easier to mock things when I don't know much about them.

Actually, it's taken a lot of self-discipline not to dig into it. I really need to finish up this degree, and there's too much reading involved in that for me to do other books right now.

Anyone else read the book and have something useful to say?
